Lake County State's Attorney Eric Reinhart joins Kim Foxx defending SAFE-T ACT against 100 other state's attorneys
12/28/22 UPDATE: A Kankakee County Judge has ruled that a provision in the SAFE-T ACT that calls for the end of cash bail is unconstitutional. Illinois Attorney General Kwame Roaul has promised to appeal the decision
Lake County State's Attorney, Democrat Eric Reinhart, is doubling down on his support of the SAFE-T ACT and is hosting a forum to explain his support on December 15th in Buffalo Grove.
Mr. Reinhart is on record as one of only two state's attorneys across Illinois to defend the SAFE-T, sharing Cook County State's Attorney Kim Foxx position against 100 other elected state's attorneys across Illinois.
The SAFE-T act ends cash bail and according to Will County State's Attorney, Democrat James Glascow, makes hundreds of inmates eligible for release, including those charged with murder and other violent offenses. DuPage County State's Attorney, Republican Bob Berlin, is also firmly opposed to the SAFE-T ACT.
